Welcome to the Nelson Radio Sailing Club website

We are an Incorporated Club dedicated to promoting the sport of radio sailing. We sail at our private pond on Best Island, 33 Barnett Avenue, Richmond, Tasman – at the top of the South Island, New Zealand.

Apart from regular Club sailing, we also host championship events from local to national level.

The Club is a member of the NZ Radio Yacht Association (NZRYA) and so is affiliated with Yachting New Zealand (YNZ) and the International Radio Sailing Association (IRSA).

We primarily sail International One Metre (IOM), Dragonflite 95 (DF95) and Dragonforce 65 (DF65) classes, but our members own other class boats and we welcome new members with any RC yacht.

Our regular sailing days regardless of the season are;

  • Tuesday 1300 DF65 and DF95 classes social sailing
  • Wednesday 1300 IOM social sailing
  • Thursday 1300 All classes social sailing
  • Saturday 1200 DF65 and DF95 scratch racing and trophy events
  • Sunday 1300 IOM scratch racing and trophy events
